ECU: Ecumenism: An Introduction

This course will begin with a definition of ecumenism and what it means to be ecumenical. The focus will be on steps that have been taken and are being taken to promote the search for Christian unity both internationally and in Canada. Achievements of the World Council of Churches, the Canadian Council of Churches, and various bilateral dialogues will be highlighted.

A Theology of the Heart: The Life and Writings of Henri Nouwen

This course is an intense, practical introduction to the rich legacy of Henri Nouwen's life and writings. Through the course assignments, interactions, and responses, the students will be given opportunity to interact intimately with the wide range of Henri's literary output, to allow these important themes to intersect with their own life experience, and to develop a creative response to the material covered.

Canadian Certificate in Youth Ministry

The Canadian Certificate in Youth Ministry Studies is a training program for those in ministry with youth, aged 10-19, in parish, school and community settings. It equips leaders with practical tools and techniques needed for creative and comprehensive youth ministry. The courses are offered on a rotating basis over three summer sessions per cycle. All courses may be taken for personal enrichment or for credit toward a Certificate in Youth Ministry.

Nouwen Summer Institute

The Summer Institute is an opportunity for individuals from all walks of life to explore the spiritual writings of Henri Nouwen through a structured time of teaching, small group discussion, personal reflection and prayer. The goal of the Institute is to learn about the rich spiritual legacy of Henri Nouwen, one of the most popular spiritual guides of our time, and make connections between Nouwen's life and writing and the life experience of those attending the institute.
