StFX offers a Minor or Subsidiary in Art History,

|
StFX's Fine Art faculty includes renowned art historians and practicing professional artists who bring firsthand knowledge of the creative process to our program. Each spring our university gallery in conjunction with the Fine Art Department host the StFX Art Department Student Exhibition. A portfolio competition for the Angus F. Macgillivray Art Bursary is held early in the New Year for students enrolled in Art Department courses. The late Angus F. Macgillivray, a former member of the Art Department, is well known for his wood carvings in the University Chapel. All eligible students are encouraged to apply for this bursary. The StFX Art Department was founded in 1969 with Sr. Jean Grant as the first department chair. We moved to lower campus in 1975, and in 2008 to our current location, ground floor of the historic Immaculata Hall. For more information or to inquire about the bursary please contact Iris Delgado Roach, Chair of the Art Department. Phone: 902-867-2417 Email: iroach@stfx.ca
