Don't know what you want to study?

If you are looking for something challenging and unique in your university education, then check out the AR Program.....

  • Our interdisciplinary approach begins with the recognition that the problems and challenges of sustainable resource use are complex;

  • If you are interested in and want to learn more about ... who has access to water-based resources, wetland and aquatic ecology, land-use planning, aquaculture, watershed governance, conservation and sustainability, natural resource management, First Nations, climate change and adaptations, industry and groundwater, development, resource and environmental policy ... and more ... then you might want to add the ISAR Major to your StFX degree;

  • ISAR is a program of a study grounded in natural science and social science that provides students with a unique understanding of how natural and social systems interact in intricate ways to define the domain of aquatic resources;

  • ISAR students participate in an applied Watershed Field Camp and Work Term, as well as a Senior Seminar and Project;

  • ISAR students earn a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree;

  • The ISAR Program Major complements your academic study at StFX!

  • You will complete TWO majors during the standard four-year undergraduate study period:          (1) Aquatic Resources and (2) one other, from:

Public Policy and Social Research

(combination of Political Science, Anthropology and/or Sociology)

Economics

Biology

Math, Statistics and Computer science

Did you know that bottled water in North America costs anywhere from 240 to 10,000 times more than tap water. In fact, we now are paying much more for bottled water than we are for the same amount of gasoline.

Did you know that approximately 2.25 billion liters of bottled water is sold in Canada every year . This means that about 215.68 million kilograms (475.49 million pounds) of plastic is used to bottle water every year. That is more than the weight of 1328 empty Boeing 747 airplanes!

October 2010   AR students receive scholarships to study in NORWAY.

     Leah Beveridge and Andrea Flynn, both completing Bachelor of Science degrees with majors in Aquatic Resources and Biology, will study in the Faculty of Biosciences and Aquaculture at the University of Nordland (formerly Bodø University College).  The credits they complete will transfer to their StFX degrees.  Read more here..
